Dillan's First Year

Wow...I cannot believe that Dillan is 1 year old!  I am a little bit late in posting...surprise, surprise :)  But I wanted to take a look back over the last year to see how our sweet boy has grown.

Dillan is such a fun and loving little boy.  He has a lot of energy and always seems to be a "man on a mission" :)  He loves rough housing and playing with mommy, daddy, and Jackson, but he also can play by himself.  He is walking / practically running all over the house.  The only word that he says at 1 year is "mama".  But by 13 months he was also saying "dada" and "ball".  He does not sign that often...so communication is a little bit of a challenge, but of course, he understands us...we just have a hard time knowing what he wants.  This sometimes results in him throwing fits...something which he is very good at...apparently he comes by this naturally (i.e. his mommy could throw a pretty good tantrum at this age, too).  However, he is happy most of the time.  He still uses a pacifier during nap time and when he is sick.  He also manages to get it other times throughout the day if he finds one or his big brother decides he needs one and sticks it in his mouth :)  He loves playing with balls and cars and has recently gotten into reading books.  He is not one to sit still for long...although he will sit in my lap for a little bit after he wakes up from his nap.  He still likes watching the praise baby dvd and a dinosaur dvd that Jackson has...but he usually is not sitting down to watch but rather roams around the room.  He is a good eater and sleeper...although like his brother at this age....he wakes up between 5:30am-6:00am.  We don't go and get him until 6:00am.  He still takes 2 naps a day and does not require much of a routine before bed time.  He actually pushes you away to try and get in his crib.

He has blond curly hair and blue eyes like his mommy did at this age and is still a big boy.  Here are his stats from his 1 year appointment.

Height:  31 inches (90th percentile)

Weight:  26lbs 13oz (90th percentile)

Head:  48.6cm (97th percentile)

He is a healthy little boy and we are so blessed to have him in our lives and we thank God daily for him.
