Christmas 2009

Walt and I stayed in Charlotte for Christmas because our pediatrician advised us against flying with Jackson during flu season since he is so young. We were sad to miss the chance to see family and friends and to miss the opportunity to introduce them to our sweet boy, but obviously his health was more important!
-
On Christmas Eve, we went to the services at our church with Walt's sister, Alex, and our niece & nephew. Fortunately, the service happened to coordinate with Jackson's schedule that day and he slept through the service.
-
On Christmas Day, we got up and had breakfast and then opened up gifts. Then we began our preparations for Christmas dinner. Walt fried a turkey for the first time so he spent most of the day working on that while I made a casserole, pie, and salad. Then Walt's sister and our niece & nephew came over. The turkey was really good!

Here are some pictures from Jackson's 1st Christmas!!!

Our family picture after the Christmas Eve service.
Jackson on Christmas morning.
Jackson smiling at his Daddy! Notice where Jackson gets his crazy hair from :)
Jackson playing with his gift from Mommy & Daddy!
Jackson sporting his "Baby's 1st Christmas" bib!
My sister, Michelle, got Jackson this Santa's outfit for Christmas! Isn't he the cutest Santa!
A close-up of Santa...Walt was straigthening his hat :)
"Santa" had a long day and was very tired! I was holding him like this b/c that is how he likes to be held when his stomach is bothering him.
Addie & Sam waiting to open Christmas gifts.
Alex and Jackson. Notice the similarity in the hair color :)
Here is another family picture on Christmas Day. This was the best picture despite the fact that Walt's head got cut off.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and wish you all a Happy New Year!

Randomness

In case you haven't realized, I tend to update several postings at once...so please be sure to keep scrolling down to make sure you have seen all of my entries :)
-
Here are just a few random pictures along with a video.
-
Tummy Time
Ok, this is a bad parenting moment. Jackson has reflux and sometimes Walt & I will try anything to calm him down. So we let him watch his praise & worship dvd. It makes me feel better that it does say 1-36months on it, but I wonder what long-term impact this giant tv can have on such a little one. I mean...they can't have even done studies on the impact yet since these massive tv's haven't been around that long. I will say that we have only done this twice. See evidence of Walt's parenting moment below. When I did it, I had Jackson sitting much further back b/c although he can't see that far...let's face it...the tv is HUGE!
This is an outfit that my mom got Jackson. In case you can't read it, it says "Let it Snow" under the snowman. It hasn't snowed here yet, but when it does I will be sure to take a picture!
Crazy Hair! Walt and I have different opinions on what we should do with Jackson's hair. He is always trying to mess it up and I try to have a more controlled look. Honestly, I am not quite sure what to do with it! I don't know anything about boy's hair and his does tend to want to stick straight up!
Here are my boys...obviously not enthused by yet another picture :)
Look at this sweet video of my little guy :)

Christmas Tree, etc.

Here is Jackson in a Christmas outfit he got from my mom.
Here is our Christmas tree.
Here are a couple of pictures of Jackson in a Santa hat and bib he got from Walt's mom.

Jackson's first non-family visitors!

Jackson has only gotten to meet his grandparents and aunt Alex. So it was very exciting when he had some visitors :) One of Walt's friends from high school, Ben, and his wife, Andrea, moved to Charlotte around the same time that we did. They live north of Charlotte and we live in south Charlotte...so we don't get to see them as often as we like, but it is nice knowing that they are close and we enjoy the times that we do get to catch up with them.
-
I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but Jackson is just staring at Andrea! He really liked her!

Since I realized that we hadn't had a "family" picture since the hospital, I had Andrea take a picture. It is funny...look at Jackson's little hand resting up against his head. I am not sure why, but he does that a lot of times when I am holding him. I like to think that he must just be really comfortable or that he is loving being held by his mother, but it might be him thinking...what is it with this lady...she keeps kissing on me & loving on me!! I wish she would stop! Well, if that is the case, he is in trouble! I just can't help myself!

Update to my "Lesson Learned" Blog

As you may have seen in an earlier blog, Walt loves to take pictures of Jackson in just his diaper. For some reason he thinks he looks hilarious :) So I jokingly said I would have to start hiding the camera.
-
Well...I have come to terms with the fact that this is just what my husband is going to do when I am not around to stop him. But before you see those pictures, take a look at the pictures I took of our sweet boy.

And now here are the pictures that Walt took. The only thing I can say is that it is nice to compare them to the ones he took last week! At least I know Jackson is getting enough to eat :)

Jackson is advanced :)

Here is another video of Jackson playing on his gym mat. But check out how advanced he is! Ok, truth be told...I do realize that he accidentally grabbed onto the toy and since he is always putting his hands in his mouth it seemed like the natural thing to do...but still...I think its cute and I am impressed that he kept doing it...but then again, I am his mother :)

Lesson Learned

This morning my sweet husband let me sleep while he took Jackson downstairs. For those of you who don't know, Jackson is still sleeping in a bassinet right by our bed and he is a very noisy sleeper. So Walt took him so that whether Jackson decided to be awake or asleep, I would get some quality sleep. When I came downstairs, I learned that Walt had taken some pictures of Jackson. Lesson learned...don't leave the camera around! I need to come up with a hiding place so that Jackson is spared from future events such as these!
-
For whatever reason, Walt thinks its amusing to take pictures of Jackson with his clothes off. He decided to prop him up on the couch. Please see below for the chain of events.
-
Sitting up and tolerating his dad's "photo op"
Slouching over and looking even less amused ...and he's down!

More pictures of my sweet boy!

I love this outfit! It is so sweet! I know you can't see it, but it says "Thank Heaven for Little Boys"! I couldn't agree more! We thank God everyday for the incredible blessing of Jackson!
Such a sweet face!

More sleeping pictures...

Jackson is always sticking his hands in his mouth which of course makes his hands wet. And since they are wet they get really cold. So I put socks on his hands! Surely there is a better way :) But until then...socks it is! Sidenote...he loves to sleep with his hands over his head! It is so cute!
In this picture, he looks like he is striking the superman pose and is about to fly away!

My Little Snowman!

My grandmother sent Jackson a snowman outfit. So Walt & I decided to put it on him on Sunday night. Now I know I am biased, but isn't he absolutely precious?!?

Jackson - One Month Old (Stats, Pictures, & Videos)

Jackson just turned one month old! So here are a few pictures of him on his one month birthday (12/6/09). We also went to his one month appointment on Monday. Here are his stats :)
At birth Jackson weighed 8lbs 6oz.
He now weighs 9lbs 12.5oz (50th percentile).
At birth Jackson was 21inches.
He is now 22 inches (75th percentile).
His head measured in the 50th percentile.
The doctor said Jackson is doing great!

Jackson playing on his gym mat! He loves it!Being one month old & so cute must be exhausting :)
Look closely to what Walt did to Jackson's hair :)
Sorry it took me so long to learn how to attach videos.
Just be glad I didn't attach all 12 of the videos we have taken :)

Just a few of Jackson's faces

Jackson's Half Grin
I don't quite know what to call this, but it is cute :)
I couldn't resist...this picture shows his double chin :)
"Seriously mom...enough with the pictures already"
*just an fyi...he is wearing a bib b/c he was spitting up a lot and this was my attempt to not have to change as many outfits per day :)

Random Pics

Here is Jackson in an outfit that my mom bought him. It is really soft & warm! If you look closely, you will see that the little "footies" are rabbits!
Here is Jackson on his gym mat! He loves it as you can tell by the grin on his face. It isn't a very clear picture, but it was so cute, I had to attach it!
Here is a picture of Jackson & I. This really shows me that I need to put on some make-up b/c poor Jackson has to look at this everyday! I guess it's a good thing that his vision is still a little blurry! Oh well...I attached it b/c this is as good as it gets these days. So if I want to prove to Jackson later on that I was around in the early days of his life it was this or nothing :)
Here is a picture of Jackson focusing in on the mobile above his swing. As you can tell he is staring intently at it. I also like this picture b/c you can see how red his hair is :)
Here is a picture of my boys :) Aren't they cute! Oh, and yes, Jackson is wearing a Christmas outfit. But I wanted him to wear it before he outgrew it :)
