Jack & Leigh's Wedding

As most of you know, Jackson is named after his uncle Jack. So it was a very special weekend when we took our first family road trip to Birmingham, AL for Jack's wedding. On October 9, 2010, Jack married Leigh Kimbrough. She is the perfect addition to an already incredible family. I feel so blessed to be a part of the Louis family and I am so glad that Leigh is now a part of it, too!

We drove down on Thursday after Walt got off work. We left around 5PM and arrived in Birmingham 7 hours later. Jackson did pretty good. He slept most of the way there, but I will definitely say that our car dvd player purchase was a wise investment :)
-
On Friday, Jackson and I hung out at the hotel while Walt played golf. Here are some pics from hanging out in the hotel room.

Jackson eating in the hotel room. I moved the chair away from the couch after this pic :)
He looks like such a big boy!
Playing with mama's shoes :)
Who knew shoes could be this much fun :)
Jackson and I met up with everyone for the rehearsal dinner. As you can see by the string of pictures, it was way past Jackson's bedtime and so he was asleep most of the rehearsal dinner. Despite his smushed face, Jackson was out cold :)
These pics are a little out of order...this was taken right after Jackson fell asleep.
Try to follow this...Walt's brother, Jack (his real name is Jackson but goes by Jack), whom Jackson is named after...was named after the man in this picture (Jack Jackson). Mr. Jackson and his wife, Marla, were so nice to offer to help me out with Jackson at the rehearsal dinner so that I could eat.

Jack & Leigh....aren't they the cutest couple!
For those of you who don't know, Mr. Louis, Walt, and his brothers always put together a little performance at the rehearsal dinner. This year's performance included fake mustaches, sunglasses, and courduroy jackets.

On Saturday, Walt had to leave around 10:30AM. So Jackson and I hung out at the hotel once again. Then we met up with the family for a family wedding picture. Here is Jackson with his Daddy. If he has a choice, that is who he wants to be with these days.
My handsome boys!
Jackson & I...he was not so happy at the moment which is why Dougie is also pictured :)
Family Pic
Jackson with Jack...as you can see he is going through that stage where he doesn't want anyone to hold him but mommy & daddy...so this was the only picture I could get before he lost it. The only exception was his uncle Tom....maybe it is the red hair connection :) I figure there must be something about Tom that reminds Jackson of Walt.
Jackson playing in the grass
Since all of the cousins were together, we took advantage of the opportunity and tried to take a cousin picture. Which is easier than it sounds. These pics are out of order. In this picture, Jackson is waving "all done".
In this picture, you can see how thrilled Jackson is with the situation :)
Here is one of the cousin pictures. As you can imagine, it is hard to get a good picture of 12 children. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Louis
Wow...these pictures really are out of order. Here is a sibling picture taken before the wedding. From L-R (Tom, Walt, Ross, Jack, Alex, Kate, and Mary Pat)
Walt and I at the wedding. The Kimbroughs were so generous and provided us with babysitters during the reception. So I was able to put Jackson to bed at a house within walking distance of the reception.

It was such a beautiful wedding and we wish Jack and Leigh the best as they return from their honeymoon and start their life in Paris! Yes, that is right...Paris. Jack has been working in Paris and Leigh is joining him when they get back from their honeymoon. It will be so exciting to see what God has in store for them!

11 Months Old

Jackson turned 11 months old last week. I am a little late with this post because we were in Alabama this last weekend for Walt's brother's wedding. It was a wonderful wedding and I will be posting about that soon. This post will be about...big surprise...Jackson :)

Jackson is literally walking ALL over the place!

This wasn't a clear shot, but thought it was cute anyways :)
Jackson's favorite place to be is outside!

He tries to fit as many acorns as he can in his little hand...look closely :)

He is getting so big!!!! Hard to believe he will be 1 next month!

Feeling Better

The beginning of this week started out a little rough as Jackson was still running a high fever (103), but he stopped running fever on Tuesday and each day you could tell he was feeling better. This weekend he was back to his old self...happy, happy, happy :)
-
Sweet face
Playing with a hanger...not to worry, I confiscated this after I took the picture as I realize this does not make a safe toy...but he sure had fun while he had it :)

I love the expression on his face!
Being silly
Our happy boy!
Since Jackson's hair has gotten a little out of control as noted in the pictures from my previous post, I took him to get his first REAL haircut. I was really nervous because I didn't want them to give him a "little boy haircut" because he is still a baby, but his hair was getting in his eyes and we kept having to sweep it out of his face. Not to mention the craziness going on in the back :)
-
At first, Jackson was grinning from ear to ear when I sat him in the airplane chair. He thought he was hot stuff. But once the hairdresser came over, he wasn't so sure about what was going on. Which is why there are no more pictures because I had to stand right beside him the rest of the time. Unfortunately I was unable to capture the sheer joy in his face, but these were pretty cute!
Walt gave me a hard time about going to a place like this, but trust me...it was worth the extra money. I felt that the $19.50 plus tip that I paid was well worth having someone that was used to cutting children's hair. Let's face it, I didn't want someone with scissors going near Jackson who wasn't used to a squirming baby who wasn't very happy about what was going on. Plus, he got a toy at the end :)
The end result...pretty cute I must admit :) It is a little bit more of a "haircut" than I wanted, but the hairdresser did a good job. At least it is out of his eyes and not so out of control :)
I love his dimple!
Clapping his hands!
I hope that this goes without saying...I was sleeping in and Walt got Jackson dressed. Yes, those are pajama bottoms and a onesie. And in case you were wondering, they weren't the pajama bottoms he had been wearing the night before...that might have made some sense.
I LOVE THIS PIC! Jackson snuggling with his Daddy in his mismatched outfit!
Random pic...
This video cracks me up...I realize it is because I am his mom and I think everything he does is cute, but he is a man on a mission :)

Daddy's Little Boy

It has officially happened. Jackson has transitioned from Mommy's Little Boy to Daddy's Little Boy. I must admit, this makes me a little sad...at the same time, I knew it was only a matter of time as Jackson got older. I didn't know it would happen so soon, but then again, our sweet boy is growing up :) Don't get me wrong...Jackson still loves his mama, but he LOVES hanging out with his Daddy! Whether it's watching football, hanging out in the garage, watering the yard, playing, or even snuggling with Daddy after his nap...Jackson LOVES his Daddy. Thankfully he still has time for his mommy and I still get a lot of hugs and kisses :)
-
Unfortunately, our sweet boy is sick. He started running fever and having cold like symptoms on Wednesday. On Friday, his temperature was around 103 and I took him to the doctor to make sure there wasn't something else going on. Thankfully his tubes are working and his ears looked great, but he did have some spots on his throat and the doctor said he might have hand, foot, and mouth as you run a high fever with it. Jackson still doesn't have any blisters on his hands or feet so I guess he just has a bad cold...who knows...but poor thing is still running fever.
-
Despite being sick, Jackson still helped Daddy water the plants :) He kept putting the water hose in his mouth that had grass and leaves on it which is why his face is a mess :)
We didn't take many pictures this week since he wasn't feeling well...you can even tell in this picture that he wasn't feeling super great :(
Here is a picture of Jackson's crazy hair after we washed it. Makes me think of Albert Einstein. Walt says it kind of looks like the hair on one of those troll dolls. Regardless, this picture proves that Jackson needs a haircut :) It is slightly out of control :)

Nice and clean and combed! Such a sweet face!!!!!
Helping mommy unload the groceries :)
Jackson walking around pulling the phone. He loves playing with this phone!
